The self-decrypting option lets you send or distribute encrypted files. When you choose to create a self-decrypting file, instead of locking your file or folder, Icon Lock-iT XP will transform it into a self-extracting executable. This executable can be sent to a third party, placed on a CD or floppy for distribution or sale or safe transport from home to work, or placed in a shared folder. When opened, even by someone without Icon Lock-iT XP, the file self-extracts, when the password is entered correctly.

The configurable user interface allows you to choose from locking or unlocking one file, multiple files or entire folders. You can also enable autolock and unlock, encrypt files for storage or lock them entirely to prevent any unauthorized use or tampering. It provides a password hint feature, optional bleaching, and you can define user rights to personalize Icon Lock-iT to your precise needs.
